castles in Beaujolais
the new Beaujolais wine tourism offer

Along the Saône Valley, between Lyon, International City of Gastronomy, and Mâcon, medieval city on the border of two long rival duchies, stretches a wine region with a heritage rich in history: Beaujolais.

More than 300 castles, strongholds and bourgeois houses illuminate the landscape with their beautiful stones and their vines. Here, thousands of visitors, or passing vacationers, choose to stop to discover our architectural, artisanal and culinary heritage.

This is how the idea was born of proposing an itinerary of “Castles in Beaujolais”. Each offers remarkable architecture, a singular history, a heritage of tourist interest, and wines representative of the quality of the Beaujolais appellations.

Ten founding Châteaux wish to carry together the banner of the Beaujolais wine heritage and open their doors to the public.

The approach is based on a dedicated website, a map offering a tourist itinerary, and a free road book offering exclusive advantages to visitors.

the carnet de route

Discovering the secrets of the Beaujolais vineyard, living unique experiences, making unforgettable encounters and introducing you to wine tasting is now possible thanks to an unusual and exclusive road book.

This notebook, produced on the initiative of the Châteaux en Beaujolais association, offers the opportunity to discover ten emblematic Châteaux of Beaujolais while benefiting from exclusive privileges from your second visit.

Follow the itinerary at your own pace according to your desires to discover exceptional wines but also a rich and varied heritage.

With your road book, start your excursion in one of the ten castles and have it stamped at each castle visited. From the second stamp, you will benefit from exclusive advantages and privileges: a free bottle, access to a place usually closed to the public, the tasting of an old vintage... Your loyalty will be rewarded!

Remember to book your visits directly with the Château at least 48 hours in advance and to indicate at the time of booking that you are in possession of your notebook.
